Fashionable sale raises funds

A charity clothing sale attracted hundreds of women to the Historic Village today.

The Recycled Women's Clothing sale was held from 9am to 12pm and raised vital money for the Turning Point Trust.

Trust programme manager Terry Heath says they weren't open until 9am but they had the first ladies coming in at 8.45am.

'It's been full on since we opened and we have had fantastic feedback about the quality of the clothing. It's a perfect day for it.

'This is our third sale and each one has got more patronised each time.”

When the trust organised the first sale, they only had nine people on their emailing list. Now the organisation has 70.

Terry says they are starting to see repeat customers.

'Turning Point Trust is a mental health and addiction recovery centre. We're pretty unique, innovative and creative when it comes to raising funds and all the funds we raise goes back into Turning Point,” Terry explains.

'We offer a huge variety of recovery programmes here for people with experience of mental illness and addiction. We have intense art therapy programmes with everything from mosaic to sketching and painting.”

She says the sale is a huge help for the day to day running of Turning Point and it could cover 100 things in the course of the day.

'Every little bit of money that we raise is precious and goes to really good use for our people here. 'The next sale will be half way through November and we have been quite fortunate to have a lot of high fashion label gear donated.”
