SH30 reopens after truck crash

UPDATED 10AM: State Highway 30, between Rotoma and Te Teko, has now re-opened, with traffic using both lanes after an early morning crash blocked the road.

The route was closed after a 3am crash, with one lane re-opened shortly after 7am.

A spokesperson for the agency says a truck and trailer crashed in the early hours of this morning.

"There will be ongoing closures throughout the morning until the wreckage is cleared," says an NZTA spokesperson earlier.

A section of State Highway 30 is closed following a crash this morning.

The highway between Rotoma and Te Teko is closed as emergency services work to clear the scene.

It's unclear how many vehicles are involved and what condition the victims are in.

Motorists are being asked to use alternative routes for the time being.

People wanting to travel between the Eastern Bay and Rotorua are being asked to use SH 33 and then right in SH2 and vice versus.
