Delays at Maungatapu

A 50km/h speed restriction, as well as diversions and lane closures are in place in Maungatapu from today as contractors clear vegetation and carry out work in preparation for the construction of the new Maungatapu underpass.

The work will take place during weekdays, between 9am and 4pm, to minimise disruption to traffic, says the NZ Transport Agency.

Work continues with the removal of houses from the bottom of Hammond Street, with two already down and one ready to be removed.

The trees between the scout hall and the Kaitemako Stream have been felled, but the scout hall will remain for use as a site office until later in the project.

There will also be speed restrictions and stop/go traffic management at other road work sites around the Bay of Plenty and people should allow extra time when travelling around the region.
