Second arrest in stabbing incident

A second arrest has been made in a stabbing incident in Milton, Dunedin today.

Armed police attended the incident after reports from the public that a murder had occurred along with a stabbing at 1am this morning.

An ambulance was put on standby and police from Balclutha, Milton and Mosgiel responded along with a dog team from Dunedin.

Armed police entered the property to find no one was seriously injured and the offenders had left the scene.

Police confirmed that some occupants of the quarters had been assaulted and threatened with knives and a baseball bat.

A number of windows had been smashed there and a vehicle at the property damaged.

Police arrested a 31-year-old man at another Milton address shortly after the incident.

This afternoon Police also arrested a second man in relation to the incident. He is a 29 year old Milton man.

Both men are facing charges of threatening to kill, and assault charges.

It is possible further charges could be laid in relation to the incident.

Both men will be held in custody tonight and will appear in the Dunedin District Court tomorrow.

The victims in the matter were not seriously injured and did not seek further medical treatment.

At this stage Police are not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident.
