A 26-year-old Hamilton man has been charged with Murder in addition to other charges he faces arising from the death of a 71-year-old man believed to be Jacques DONKER on London Street last night.

He appeared in the Hamilton District Court yesterday and has been remanded in custody.

The scene examination has been concluded; yesterday the man's body was removed from the location for a post mortem examination to be conducted in Auckland.

Despite the arrest, a significant amount of work remains for investigators to carry on with to fully understand the events of Monday night.

Police would like to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity of London Street (East), Hamilton between 8pm and 9pm on Monday night, particularly the movements of a man in the company of two females.

Investigators also seek information from anyone who was confronted by a male on Victoria Street on Monday evening before 9pm.
