A witness at the scene who contacted SunLive said there was a collision between a silver car and a red ute shortly before 3pm.

The driver of the silver car is trapped in the vehicle.

However, Fire Services northern communications centre shift manager Scott Osmond says they have been informed that only one vehicle was involved.

The driver's injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

One lane is blocked, but traffic is though to be moving via the painted centre-median.

Great Headline Team! "Driver Trapped in TePuke". I realise you were attempting to alert on the accident story, but as the second day of the new TEL Expressway is upon us ... It could well be that there are "Several Drivers Trapped in TePuke!" With Best Wishes, Bill Gibson-Patmore
