Police are seeking information about an alleged attack on two male tourists by a group of up to eight people in Christchurch overnight.

The alleged incident is believed to have occurred in the driveway of the tourists' backpackers accommodation in Worcester St between 2.30am and 2.45am on Saturday, August 1.

Both men have been admitted to hospital. One male suffered a broken jaw during the alleged attack, while the other suffered serious eye injuries.
