Arson attack perturbs owners

Annoyed and confused are just some of the words that can be used to describe how the owners of ABC Rentals on Waihi are feeling at the moment.

Olga Morris and her husband received a phone call from police at about 2.45am telling them that someone had broken into their yard and torched some of their vehicles.

When Tauranga Fire Brigade arrived, station officer Nigel Liddicoat says four vehicles were 'completely alight”.

It took firefighters about an hour to extinguish the blaze.

Speaking to SunLive this morning, Olga says four vehicles have been completely damaged and another has suffered paint damage from radiating heat.

'We came down here at about 2.45am for about an hour, spoke with police and tried to figure out what was going on.”

She says this is not a nice thing to have happen.

'I feel horrible this morning. I didn't sleep last night at all. Who would do that sort of thing?

They climbed over the fence and started the fire in the cars.”

Olga is miffed at how the perpetrators managed to climb a barb wire fence and get into the compound.

'We just have to wait and see what the police say now.”

Police and a fire safety investigator are investigating the fire.

People with information that may help find the perpetrators can contact Tauranga Police Station on 07 577 4300.

Alternatively, information can be left anonymously via the Crimestoppers 0800 555 111 line.

Unbelievable what people can do! A huge inconvienience for the owners. I hope the offenders are caught and receive fitting consequences. Time and money will be wasted by so many innocent people. Ruthless idiots.

People who do things like this have no feelings for others at all in fact they have a brain about the size smaller than a pea.
