Te Puke builder flown to hospital

A Te Puke builder working on a house at Waihi Beach was flown to Waikato Hospital by the Trustpower TECT rescue helicopter today after suffering a serious cardiac event on site.

Three work mates carried out CPR on the 59-year-old man until the emergency services, St. John Ambulance and the NZ Fire Service arrived on the scene.

The man was airlifted to Waikato Hospital in a critical condition.

However, his colleagues' immediate actions may have greatly aided his potential recovery.

"The on-scene CPR helped give the man the best possible chance of survival," says pilot Liam Brettkelly.
