Police are playing down reports of an armed man in Tauranga's Central Business District this morning.
Police Northern Communications received a call at around 10.20am following concerns regarding a man allegedly armed with a kitchen knife at a Devonport Road address.

A police communications spokesperson says they received a call from people at the address after a man is alleged to have threatened them with a knife.
'He left out the back door,” says the spokesperson.
'He is alleged to have been holding a kitchen knife, but he has since come back to the address and it's all under control.
'We there at the moment [speaking with people] and it's all under control.
'It's not a big deal,” they added.
