Aggravted robbery investigated

An aggravated robbery occurred at the Palmerston North Sportsman's Bar, on Featherston Street yesterday evening and police want to speak to anyone that witnessed the incident.

At about 9.10pm a female employee was locking up the bar when two males forced their way into the establishment.

They demanded money from the employee and threatened her with what is believed to be a firearm.

The two offenders took an unknown quantity of cash and quickly decamped from the scene.

At this stage it is unclear if a vehicle was involved.

Officers are continuing to support and speak with her in an effort to obtain a description of the offenders and further information."

A scene examination has commenced this morning.

"Police want to speak with anyone that saw any suspicious activity between 8:45pm and 9:30pm around the Sportsman's Bar and surrounding area.

Any information you have may assist police in resolving this violent and unacceptable crime," says Detective Senior Sergeant Harrison.
