A 21-year-old Palmerston North man has been charged with manslaughter in relation to the death of Tyrone Rawiri Gideon.

Mr Gideon died during a shooting incident at a residential address in Palmerston North on Tuesday 19 May, 2015.

The man is due to appear in the Palmerston North District Court on Thursday 30 July, 2015.

Police have also charged an 18-year-old Palmerston North man with unlawful possession of a pistol, and he will appear in the same court on Tuesday 4 August, 2015.

Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Sheridan of the Manawatu CIB says: "While these charges signal significant progress in our investigation, this continues to be a testing time for Mr Gideon's family and we are providing them with the appropriate support through this next phase."
