Rudd bailed until August

Former AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd has been released on bail until August 3 following his latest appearance in a Tauranga courtroom this morning.

Rudd was arrested on Saturday after breaching the conditions of his home detention sentence, which stipulate he is not allowed to consume alcohol or drugs.

Judge Louis Bidois remanded the 61-year-old until his next appearance early next month, but a new condition has been added to his existing home detention sentence.

Rudd can now be subjected to testing for drugs and alcohol when requested by New Zealand Police.

The Australian-born rocker was sentenced to eight months home detention on charges of threatening to kill, and possession of methamphetamine and cannabis on June 21.

His August appearance could determine whether he can continue to serve his sentence at his Harbourside Drive property in Bureta, or if the Department of Corrections wish to place him behind bars.

Rudd appeared in court today in a cream-coloured, long sleeve zip-up polo neck. Following his release on a new bail bond, he appeared before the media scrum outside Tauranga District Court wearing a leather jacket with ‘AC/DC' across the back.

His lawyer Craig Tuck alerted waiting journalists that Phil would be leaving via the court's main entrance after he signed his new bail bond.

He then left in a Jaguar F Type, but not before taking time to hug a well-wisher.

Judge Louis Bidois today agreed to the Department of Corrections request for the additional bail condition.

On the single charge he is remanded without plea and there was no opposition to bail from the department.

Craig Tuck is appealing the home detention sentence.

...with bated breath for the previous judge's promise to jail Rudd to be carried out.

testing

Hopefully this will not mean the police turning up whenever they feel like it as they do seem to subject Mr Rudd to a lot of attention. Had the court put steps in place to help him go cold turkey. And before all the criticism starts to flow,I don't think he should be above the law but should also expect and receive the same level of support as anybody else.

Serious!

What a great city we live in where the police have nothing better to do than this! So on a Saturday night in Tauranga there is no drunken disorderly behaviour, burglary, assaults, intrusions, drink driving etc that the local police need to worry about? Next time you ring the police and they are too busy to respond, you know where they will be. It seems they are not going to rest until they get their man! They need to get the stars out of their eyes and focus on real criminals. What about the people supplying the Meth?

Bailed AGAIN!!!

Enough's enough - if this were Joe Bloggs he'd have been locked up the first time round. Time for Mr Rudd to stop skidding along on the coat-tails of his former employer. It appears he and his lawyer are both making a mockery of our judicial system AGAIN. Perhaps a bit of detox time in prison would work more in his favour than sending him back into the environment of his continual re-offending. I'm sure the police efforts could be better used elsewhere.

so shall we open a "give a little" page to help the poor wee man, since that seems to be the "thing to do".

how many chances

Firstly, you stated he was wearing a white top, and the photo is a black top with a caption saying released on bail.....not that its important, what is important though is a judge says that if the home detention is breached he would be sent to jail.....if it wasnt breached i wouldnt have thought he would have been in court today, so why is he on bail and not locked up.???He had a gift many years ago and used it in the band and now he has thrown all that away, does he really not care?????

Rudd was more likely to detox out of prison than in it What an upside down world

Deal with IT!

Trouble is even Joe Bloggs would have got the same treatment. Why do we have laws? They are certainly NOT inforced by these Judges, if someone breaks the law, there are concequences BUT they are not inforced. Why does the court have to be tied up again in August, just deal with it NOW. It must cost heaps to re-hear the same old same old stuff. Deal with it and move on. It must be so frustrating for the Police to catch the baddies and the judges let them go, only for them to break the law and the Police have to waste time on someone who should be dealt with the first (2nd, 3rd) time for doing the same thing. Like kids you serve up the punishment for the crime, don't keep saying next time you do that ......! PLEASE - Deal with It!!!

Poor bloke

Rudd does not need to try and make a mockery of the NZ judicial system , it already is the laughing stock for the rest of the world . Kim.com , Maori prince , Rudd , these massive companies that fold from blatant fraud and the NZ taxpayer has to pay for it , like so many other things....

His bail conditions said no alcohol or drugs. If intoxicated he might order another hit. And he has the means to pay for it so it is a real possibility. He aint a normal person so thats why he is being watched very carefully.

too much grace again!

maybe that is a good idea, based on the comments here there would not be a lot of mercy and I think it is fair to say that he would only get to offend once.

Don't know the guy, not interested in knowing the guy. That being said i think the press are well out of order. Yes it's fine to be outside the courts to film him but to then go to his house and antagonise him to try and get a better story. It seems a bit out of order. If I was the judge I would order him to rehab.

Everyone is cashing in on Phil Rudd

Posted on 21-07-2015 21:41 | By The Sage

Especially the media. Too many people on the gravy train, including the "working Girl" who presumably got money for the article in this week's Woman's Day. Shame on the lot of you. I have a terrible feeling he is going to end up another Rock Star statistic while everyone stands around being so judgmental. He needs to put in a care facility where he can receive the professional help he needs.

@the sage.....

simple then, put the little gnome in a care facility of your choice then, and he can sit in the garden with his miniature drum kit!!!! and pretend to be a "big shot", I am way over this idiot and the media only supplies most of its readers with its daily dose of sensationist rubbish, because unfortunately it is what a lot crave for.

If simeone rings the Police they have to respond. Its that simple. Nothing to do with having it in for someone
