Van Duin to square off with Cyborg

Papamoa's Faith Van Duin is confident she will walk away world champion as she prepares to take on one of the toughest MMA women fighters in the world.

The 28-year-old is the first New Zealand woman to be signed to Invicta FC and is the first Kiwi woman to be going for a MMA world title shot.

Van Duin is getting ready to take on Cris ‘Cyborg' Justino.

The Immortal will go head to head with Invicta FC featherweight champion Cris ‘Cyborg' Justino at Invicta FC 13 on July 9 (US time).

Speaking to SunLive from the US, Van Duin says she is feeling 'amazing, fit and ready” for her second international fight.

Justino (13-1, 1 NC) has run roughshod over the Invicta FC featherweight division since her arrival with a first round smashing of Fiona Muxlow in 2013.

Van Duin (5-1) is going into the Vegas fight on the back of a win over Amanda Bell in her Invicta FC debut in April.

The 28-year-old won with a second round submission over Bell.

Talking about her upcoming opponent, Van Duin says the Cyborg's strengths will be her stand-up and her aggressiveness.

'She doesn't just give up. She goes in there to rip your head off. I'm ready to rip her head off too.

'I'm feeling amazing,” says Van Duin.

'I would like to add how this is a huge thing for New Zealand. First women in NZ to be going for a MMA world title and when I win it will be the first for NZ men or women.

'I'm in Las Vegas fighting the baddest women fighter on the planet.”

Invicta FC 13 is taking place on Thursday, July 9 (US time), at The Chelsea at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas.

The card streams live on UFC Fight Pass and is taking place during international fight week, with UFC being held the next day.
