Ladies lunch nets $70K

Politicians, business men and councillors as man servants. Sounds like something out of a fiction novel.

But fiction came reality at the Ladies Long Charity lunch at ASB Arena yesterday.

Lavina Good and Mary Lambie.

While the final figures are yet to be tallied, Te Aranui Youth Trust operations manager Wendy Nicholls believes around $70,000 has been raised.

The money will go towards funding the Te Aranui Youth Trust.

The trust works with youth offenders and police and also runs Blue Light events.

Wendy says the money will go towards funding those initiatives.

'The event went well. We had 496 people attend.”

Temepara Bailey, Sarah Goss and Mary Lambie were the guest speakers of the day.

The day also featured auctions and live entertainment from local band Empress.

'We also had a group of local businessmen, councillors and politicians who gave up their time to be our man servants and wait on the women at the event,” explains Wendy.

Wendy says they will be holding the event again next year.

'I would like to thank to Lavina Good from Brookfield New World and Zack from Flame Advertising who were on the organising committee with me. Without them we would not have been able to put the event through.”
