What’s on Today? The big four

Hunters will be pulling out their hunting boots and camo gear for the Polaris 2015 Big Four Hunting and Fishing Competition today.

Teams of four have been hunting the top four this week - a wild stag, wild boar, cock ring-neck pheasant and a trout – with judging today in Te Puna for Hunting and Fishing Club's largest annual competition.

Individuals receive prizes for first, second, and third for the heaviest stag, heaviest boar, best pheasant, and heaviest trout.

Teams who bag all four species are then eligible for the major team prizes, and could win a share of the $95,000 prize pool.

Weigh-in is at Top Shot Bar from 11am-3pm, followed by prizegiving.

There'll be activities on weigh-in day for the whole family, plus spot prizes and raffles. Sponsors will be there with discounted products on sale.

'So head down and make a day of it,” says organiser Shane Paterson.
