Police are continuing to build a clear picture of the sequence of events which lead to the shooting of Vaughn Te Moananui.

The Armed Offenders Squad assisted other police during a confrontation in Thames on May 2.

Detective Inspector Chris Page says while much of the gathering of information is complete, there is still a lot of work involved in analysing what has happened to establish a clear picture of the sequence of events.

'In addition,” explains Chris, 'the forensic examinations being undertaken by specialists across the country take time to complete.

'These are pivotal to being able to properly reconstruct the activity at Thames that day.

'However, we continue to work with the family, keeping them informed as milestones in the investigation are reached.”
