A post mortem on a man's body pulled from a Bay of Plenty stream is expected to take place today.

The body was discovered early yesterday by people going trout fishing in the Fordland area of Rotorua.

The walkway running alongside the stream, backing on to Ruth Street, remained cordoned off overnight.

Police hope the post mortem result will reveal how the man died.

In the meantime, police are asking people with information that may help their investigation to come forward.
