Four people are facing the possibility of life-imprisonment after allegedly trying to smuggle $12 million worth of methamphetamine into the country.
The Asian tourists are each looking at lengthy jail sentences if they are found guilty of allegedly trying to bring over 12 kilograms of methamphetamine into New Zealand on Saturday.
Four people are facing charges for allegedly trying to smuggle $12 million worth of methamphetamine into the country.
Two men and two women, all in their early to mid-twenties, appeared in Manukau District Court yesterday, each charged for importation and possession of a class A controlled drug.
They remain in custody until their next court appearance.
Customs officers stopped the tourists at Auckland International Airport.
Methamphetamine of an expected combined weight of over 12 kilograms was located hidden in their suitcases.

Do not jail them . That's what they want . They will get a degree in the jail while they sit there for 5 Years ( life ? ), and demand citizenship on release . Send them to BALI immediately

an advocate for capital punishment to return to New Zealand. Under strict guidelines of course, but maybe the ULTIMATE deterrent would cause one or two people to consider their actions.
