Webb along, with co-defendant Jasweer Singh, also 21 and facing identical charges, is accused of setting fire to a Maungatapu home as well as rubbish bins at Tauranga Boys' College and a mobility scooter.

Through lawyer Glenn Dixon, appearing for Olivia Britton, Webb pleaded guilty to all five charges.

Webb admitted that at 5.30pm on April 27, he stole a sheet from a clothesline at a 17th Avenue address which later used to light a fire under a mobility scooter, near the corner of corner of 17th Avenue and Devonport Road, on May 1.

Police prosecutor David Pawson says the mobility scooter was parked under a carport, and when firefighters arrived, it was completely ablaze. Some $4000 worth of damage was reported.

On May 2, Webb then went to an address on Paine Street, Judea, smashing a pane of glass on a door before stealing a Samsung tablet and some food.

The following day he went to Tauranga Boys' College and set fire to two rubbish bins which were extensively damaged, says David.

Finally, on May 4 at around 3pm, Webb and Singh allegedly went to a house in Te Waiti Street, Maungatapu – Singh's adopted parents' home.

After breaking in, an electronic notebook and tablet was stolen before Webb fled the address.

Having returned to the property later that day, Webb was allegedly coerced by Singh to steal a 3-litre petrol can and helped to douse the master bedroom before setting it alight.

Firefighters were called to the address after neighbours heard a window breaking and spotted smoke.

Scene commander Aaron Waterreus said neighbours used a garden hose until firefighters arrived and took control of the situation.

The fire was in a flat on the top storey of the house which was separated from the main residence by a fire wall.

Extensive fire and smoke damage occurred to the house and it is believed that an accelerant was used.

Judge Christopher Harding remanded Webb in custody ahead of sentencing in Tauranga District Court at 2.15pm on June 23.
