Missing man’s body found

The body of a man recovered from the Waihou River in Matamata has been identified as the man who was reported missing earlier in the week.

Senior Constable Bruce Warrender says the Waikato Police Search and Rescue team commenced a search of the area around the holiday park and nearby Waihou River on Tuesday.

The body of 42-year-old, Jonathan Kinvig was located a short distance downstream from the holiday park, late Wednesday afternoon.

'On behalf New Zealand Police I would like to express our sympathies to the family of Mr Kinvig.”

Jonathan, a local resident at the Opal Springs Hot Pools and Holiday Park, was last seen at the holiday park on the night of Thursday, May 14.

There were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his disappearance and the matter has been referred to the coroner.
