Taste of Bay for Prime Minister

Prime Minister John Key visited The Good Food Trading Company today where he caught up with some local school children and got a look inside one of Tauranga’s new businesses.

The Good Food Trading Company owner Jamie Blennerhassett says the event attracted big crowds.

“Everything went very well. We showed him around the store and some of the class from our daughter’s school came down. ”

Mr Key got asked some tough questions by the pupils from St Thomas More Catholic School and struggled to answer the what’s your favourite animal question, finally deciding a polar bear was the best option.

Jamie presented Mr Key with gifts featuring locally produced products including Te Puke based Steens Manuka honey which is sold in Harrods in England, and some Tauranga made Volcanic Hills Wine.

The new store opened eight months ago in Tauranga and Jamie says it is continuing to attract new customers.

The Prime Minister also visited the construction site of the new $30million business centre on the corner of Cameron Road and Elizabeth Street.
