SunLive Competition


The Paeroa Domain will ring with the sounds and sights of Scotland at the 18th Paeroa Highland Games and Tattoo on Saturday, February 12.

The games begin at 8.30am with the solo piping contest, followed by highland dancing, the Axemen’s Chopping Carnival, popular heavyweight field events and the pipe bands contest, featuring 14 pipe bands.

Features on the day include Scottish Clans Tents where visitors can research their genealogy and buy souvenirs of their clan, a photographic competition, a Tartan in the Park competition for best dressed woman, man, boy and girl at 5.30pm, and two street marches through Paeroa at 11am and 5.30pm.

The evening tattoo, modelled on the famous Edinburgh Tattoo, will be staged in front of the ‘Paeroa Castle’ from 6.30pm and features the massed pipe bands, Tauranga City Silver Band, highland dancers, Celtic singers, mace flourishing, and more.

Admission costs $15 for adults and $2 for children.
