SunLive - The Bay's news first

SunLive Competition

Singing, dancing, lots of comedy, audience participation and a great time had by cast and audience alike can only mean one thing – another summer youth production at  Tauranga Musical Theatre.

From the creators of How Charming, Too Charming and Arabian Knights comes another twisted tale to delight old and young.

Get Over It is the untold story of the troll that lived under the bridge. The host of fun characters includes a misunderstood troll, a wimpy prince, a roving band of ‘gruff’ gypsies and the obligatory damsel in distress, all held together with a large dollop of fairy godmother magic. And of course there is a bad guy, but will his dastardly plans for the fair maiden be foiled by the reluctant hero, or will evil win the day?

The show features a cast of 28, ranging in age from 10 to 22.

Cast members include Kaitlin Spedding, who has just completed her second year at NASDA (National Academy of Singing and Dramatic Art), Hannah Spedding and Dylan Frewin who have been accepted into NASDA for 2011. Brayden Jeffries, who played the part of Robin Hood in 'Arabian Knights', and Brave Sir Robin in the recent Zenith Productions season of Spamalot, has also composed two original songs for the show for a treat.

Get Over It, directed by Matthew Roderick and Marlise Hughes, will be performed onstage at Westside Theatre from January 21-29.

Tickets are available through Baycourt TicketDirect.
