Get the best of New Zealand from market to table with ‘Fresh!’ a new cookbook created by Peter and Anne Blakeway.

Originally from the UK, Peter and Anne immigrated to New Zealand in 2004 and fell in love with the country, cuisine, and the fresh, raw produce. They set about exploring the many regions which make up New Zealand and discovered delicious ingredients to cook along the way.

Peter has put his own spin on the best fresh ingredients and has refined the recipes throughout his long career in the kitchen. His philosophy is tasty, fresh food that recognises its roots in nature.

Peter and Anne’s emphasis is on the importance of food as a tool to bring people together and the recipes in Fresh! are all accessible – anyone with a standard pantry and kitchen can achieve them.

Each chapter represents one of 17 New Zealand regions and explores three or four ingredients particular to that area, along with recipes using that produce. Stunning landscape photos introduce each chapter and every recipe is photographed in an edible, hot state, using natural light. Photography for Fresh! is by Simon Young.

There are recipes to suit every taste, including a simple potato salad using Otago Jersey Bennes, barbecued Marlborough crayfish, Canterbury lamb shanks and an amazing avocado chocolate tart.
