SunLive Competition

Just as the Te Puke Kindergarten passed through the 80s, supporters of the Kindergarten have the opportunity to do the same in an upcoming fundraising venture.

The Totally Awesome 80s Prom Party on Saturday, October 29 at the Te Puke Sports Club is fundraising for much needed renovations of the 50-year-old building.

Te Puke Kindergarten Parents Committee president Lieska Te Aho says the building wasn’t equipped for the amount of children or staff that the kindergarten now attends to.

“After changes made to the sessions, the kindergarten now runs like a full day form 9.15am to 3.15pm.
“Logistics have to be taken into account and the building can’t handle the numbers.”

The money raised will go towards a new undercover outdoor, new canvas curtains that block the weather and general renovations.

The adult’s-only party features a break dancing competition, Prom King and Queen, Best 80s hairdo and best overall outfit and to keep the party rocking all night, ‘The Big Guys’ are performing their Blue Brothers show.

For tickets, phone Te Puke Kindergarten 07 573 7266, Barbz Hairdressing in Te Puke or from Lieska, phone 0274 082 758.
Tickets are $20. Snacks available during the night and a cash bar available;18 years and over – ID will be requested.
