SunLive Competition

It was through Miranda Bond’s personal struggle with medical conditions which lead her to develop a range of natural make-up.

The CEO and founder of Inika make-up spent many years battling endometriosis – a hormonal illness – and infertility, before she looked for natural alternatives to help her.

“I had been doing the rounds of Western medicine and I had surgery after surgery and I wasn’t getting anywhere,” says Miranda.

“But 10 and half years ago, I read a book that changed my life – where the author was discussing natural approaches to life and one of the things is how many xenoestrogens are in our makeup, home and environment.”

Three months after changing her diet and removing toxins from her life, Miranda fell pregnant – and in the process her endometriosis cleared up, leading her on a journey to inspire other women to use natural and organic products.

This led to the creation of Inika – the “world leading brand in natural cosmetics,” says Miranda.

Half the make-up is mineral powders and the other is certified organic. The whole range is cruelty free, vegan and natural.

“We take ethics and integrity to a whole new level. I don’t agree with a lot of brands brainwashing what is in their products.

“We are very open about what we put in ours and the process we use.”

To ensure the make-up adheres to these things, Miranda says the procedure is not as easy as one might think.

“When you are making a vegan makeup, making a lipstick, but not using honey is quite challenging. It makes formulation interesting, but it has excelled to take the formulation to a whole new level.

“For example our liquid foundation is made from aloe vera and it delivers flawless results.”

Miranda says women enjoy wearing the make-up, “because it is certified organic with rich, nourishing ingredients, to moisturise and hydrate, feeding your skin”.

“And women love it.”
