Tauranga Musica is hosting well-known New Zealand baritone David Griffiths, accompanied by his wife Christine Griffiths on piano, in Schubert’s famous song cycle Die Schone Mullerin.

The concert at Mills Reef on Sunday, June 26, commencing at 7pm, is the fourth concert in the Tauranga Musica 2011 series.

David was born in Auckland and educated at the University of Auckland where he graduated M.Mus. He travelled overseas for further study and has sung as soloist with a number of choral societies in many countries.

On his return to New Zealand, he won the NZ Herald Aria and the Mobil Song Quest in 1983. He has appeared regularly with NZ Opera and with all major choral societies. Recital repertoire includes a large body of German, French and English songs and a significant amount of New Zealand music. David has also had considerable success with his own operatic compositions and has released several CDs.

Christine is well known in recital in many countries and as accompanist for David both overseas and in New Zealand.
