SunLive Competition


German-born pianist Michael Endres is making his very first recital tour of New Zealand and Tauranga Musica are bringing him to town.

The recital is part of Tauranga Musica’s 2011 season, with Michael performing on May 22 at Bethlehem College Performing Arts, beginning at 3pm.

Michael is especially acclaimed for his playing of works by Schubert. He took first and special prizes at the International Schubert Competition in Germany and was also a prize winner at the Zurich Concours Gaza Anda Competition.

Michael studied at Juilliard School in New York and later with Peter Feuchtwanger in London. He was Professor of Piano at Cologne Hochschule fur Musik and then at the Hanns Eisler in Berlin.

Michael is currently professor of Piano at the University of Canterbury, having recently moved to New Zealand with his wife. His repertoire is wide and he has 27 CDs to his credit.

In Tauranga, Michael is playing works by Schubert, Gareth Farr, Schumann and Leopold Godowsky.
