SunLive Competition

The next Operatunity concert in Tauranga will include Tom Sharplin and his award winning band.

‘Rock around the 50s’ is on Friday, May 27 at the Holy Trinity Church on the corner of 3rd Avenue and Devonport Road, starting at 11am.

Singing sister
Operatunity’s Geoffrey Hughes joins Karen Davy, the singing sister of furiously fast fiddler Marian Burns, alongside New Zealand’s ‘Mr Rock ‘n’ Roll’ Tom Sharplin and his band members; Bruce French, Ray Eade, and Peter Wood.

“My peers have spoken highly of this entertainment company with its professionalism and talent and the band and I are really excited to be joining Operatunity with our shows around New Zealand,” says Tom.

“The audience is certain of having a great time with music that will take you back to the fun days of 50s rock ‘n’ roll, with some laughs along the way.”

Reunited

It’s not the first time Tom has appeared on stage with Geoffrey Hughes either. The musicians are reunited after performing together more than 25 years ago in the Auckland Theatre production of ‘Grease’, the rock ‘n’ roll musical, where they performed alongside international movie star Russell Crowe.

Operatunity would like the audience to dress-up and join the fun, as the 50s is a fabulous decade for fun and happy music, which people can’t sit still listening to.

Tickets are $28, including lunch with the artists, with further discounts available for group or concession bookings.
