How can one resist Pizza? I just love it and have found a way to make it all year round without the sun to make the dough rise!
What I do is turn my oven up to the highest temperature it can go then open the oven door and place the dish on top of the oven lid with a tea towel on top. The dough will start to rise – it’s easy! This recipe will make 2-3 large family pizzas.
6 cups plain flour
3 tabelspoon oil
Pinch of salt and pepper
2 cups warm water
6 tabelspoons dry yeast
2 tabelspoons sugar
1 can chopped tomatoes
In a large dish, place warm water, yeast and sugar. Allow to sit so the yeast forms a foam on top.
Place all dry ingredients in a dish and mix through the yeast with a wooden spoon. Turn out on a flowered bench top and knead the dough into a ball.
Place back in the dish and rub the oil over the top.
Place in a warm area to allow the dough to rise. In winter I put my oven on full and open the lid and place the pizza dough on top of the oven lid with the door open - this will help the dough to rise.
If using a pizza stone, heat in the oven for 30 minutes until it is on the highest temp. Remove from oven and place all toppings, then place back in the oven and lower heat to 180 degrees Celsius. Cook until golden.
If using Pizza trays oil your surface and place in the oven on 180 degrees Celsius.
