Mount Greens set to go

The Mount Greens lawn bowls and croquet project is about to go to tender, with the first sod expected to be turned next month.
Tauranga City Councillors were presented with an AV fly-through of the project at the Projects and Services Committee this week.

Detailed designs will be presented to Mount Greens Sports this week before the tender process begins.
The project is on budget. Site development will cost $3.2 million, consisting of $2.9 million from council and $300,000 from Mount Greens Sports Inc.
Mount Greens Sports will be responsible for funding the amenities block, shade structures and seating. Mount Greens will also be responsible for the “grow in phase” of lawns and greens following handover from the main contractor.
“We are really delighted with where we have got to, other people will look at it and envy,” says Mount Greens Sports chairman Ross Linney.
