Show plans great news
The Bay of Plenty is the second largest boat port in New Zealand and offers some of the best fishing grounds in the country and the world, says Tauranga Boat and Leisure Show organiser Graeme Martin.
The show is back this year at Baypark Stadium from September 10-12 with a raft of new designs and improvements.

It will feature lots of new boats plus a huge selection of top fishing gear, much of it on special during the show. Visitors can also check out the best in new marine products, with at least five product launches already booked in.
New additions
“The Issues and Interviews Theatre is an interesting addition this year,” says Graeme.
“Key players in the industry will talk about a range of topics with the theatre being a mix of seriousness, hilariousness and imperiousness.
“This year’s Top Catch challenge is to bring in a photo of the largest fish you’ve ever caught, and tell us about it in 60 seconds.
Participants will go in the draw to win a great rod and reel combo from Top Catch at Sulphur Point.”
The show is now women-friendly with a new Women’s World in the central pavilion where ladies can keep themselves amused while the guys look at boats and fishing gear. A food corner leads into the entertainment area with some fabulous food on offer. International chef Peter Blakeway will do live cooking demonstrations on the barbie and give free nibbles throughout each day. He will also have copies of his new book available.
“We’ve also spent $8000 on flash loos for the ladies– and if the lads are tidy about it, they can use them too,” says Graeme.
The new entrance is via Truman Lane, which Graeme says very worked well at the Tauranga Home Show.
“The new car park is easy to get in and out of, with over 1000 free car parks leading to the entrance on the east side.”
Graeme is also in the process of finalising prizes and surprises.
