Bay’s lifeguards best in NZ

Bay of Plenty surf lifesaving clubs have shown their dominance with a one-two finish at the 2010 NZCT Surf Lifesaving Champs held at Ohope Beach over the weekend.
Mount Maunganui Surf Club came first with Papamoa Surf Club second at the event which is the major annual competition for New Zealand’s surf clubs.

Competition was intense at the NZCT Surf Lifesaving Champs.

Mount Maunganui Surf Club head coach John Bryant says it is the second time the club has won the championship.
“We are the only Bay of Plenty club that has done that so it was pretty special.”
He says their win was a result of a lot of hard work from a lot of people.
“It was an all round team performance. I think a lot of credit has to go to the coaching programmes and the management on the beach that helped us rise above other clubs.”
Mount Maunganui Surf Club had the fifth biggest contingent at the championships with 70 competitors.

How much do you value Fathers' Day?

Heaps, it's important to celebrate dads!
Not really, it's just another greeting card holiday.
As long as it rates behind Mothers' Day I'm happy.
It's tops - make it a public holiday!
I'm not bothered by Fathers' Day.
