Calling for stories about living with bipolar

Georgie Tutt is taking a year off teaching to compile a book of stories written by people with bipolar affective disorder.
Georgie, who was diagnosed in 1991, wants the publication to challenge misconceptions about the disorder, formally known as manic depression.

“I believe there is a need for a book which people can read and be inspired by a diverse range of ordinary people, in various fields of life, who are managing and living fulfilled lives despite their diagnosis,” says Georgie.
A number of people have already responded to the call for contributors, but Georgie is looking for others, from all walks of life, happy to share their stories even under a pseudonym.
Aubrey Quinn, who has brought his 1998 diagnosis into the limelight by featuring on the ‘Like Minds, Like Mine’ television campaign, will write the publication’s introduction. Aubrey, an employment and training service coordinator for Turning Point in Tauranga, says this publication idea is ‘broadening a hope’.
