Man arrested after pit bike chase

A 34 year old Hairini man riding a pit bike was arrested after he led police on a chase through Tauranga on Thursday morning.
Police say they caught him at 10.40am and charged him with failing to stop for police, driving while disqualified and resisting arrest. The man was also wanted on a warrant.


A pit bike is a small motorbike, usually with a 50-125cc rating.

• Three men aged 17-18 were arrested on Thursday afternoon on Turret Road and charged with cannabis related offences. They are due to appear in Tauranga District Court next Wednesday.

• Two men were arrested on Pacific Avenue on Thursday night and charged with breaching the liquor ban.

• A 17 year old labourer was arrested on the corner of Hamilton Street and The Strand in central Tauranga and charged with disorderly behaviour. He will appear in Tauranga District Court on Thursday.
