Tauranga mother killed in crash

Police have named Miriama Parata as the 35 year old Tauranga mother killed in a car crash near Hunterville in the Manawatu on Monday morning.

The accident occurred when she was travelling back to Tauranga from Wellington in a van with her family.
Miriama was a front seat passenger in the van, which was being driven by her husband on State Highway 1 when the vehicle crashed down a bank.
He and the couple’s eight children, who were also in the van, were uninjured.
The cause of the crash is under investigation but police say early indications suggest that fatigue is a possible factor.
